Yes, it is February, and this is the January issue of "Connections." Weather, and several other things beyond our control, delayed production of this issue, which is #3 in our monthly series. Look for the February issue by the end of this month. You will find previous issues archived in the ACT Missouri website, under the "Newsletter" heading. Our thanks to those who have given us valuable feedback and who have shown their interest by requesting further information. Let's stay connected!

  • The Newsclip File
  •    Alcohol and other drugs, substance abuse and addiction, prevention and treatment appear in print on a fairly regular basis. We don't all read the same newspapers and magazines, so some of the reports escape our attention. This monthly feature captures some recent items.

  • Q & A
  •    Many of our readers call in questions, or voice them in person at meetings. In this section of "Connections" we answer some of those questions, which are likely to be on the minds of others as well. Please don't hesitate to send in YOUR questions.

Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed within this section are solely those of the author, and do not necessarily represent the views, opinions and policies of ACT Missouri. Please address your questions and comments to Gerrit L. DenHartog.

            •    Commentary will be included in "Connections" as time and space allow. Look for reviews of two important new books in the February issue:

              • Eric Burns' The Spirits of America: A Social History of Alcohol (Temple University Press, 2004).
              • Thomas Babor and 14 other contributors, Alcohol: No Ordinary Commodity - Research and Public Policy (Oxford University Press, 2003).
