Questions and Answers

Question: Are the mini-grant application page limits based on single space or double spaced type?

Answer: Either. . . as long as the page limits are followed.


Question: I know we cannot use any of the funds for activates during the school day, however does that mean the entire school day? Or, is it okay to have an event that takes up only one or two hours of the school day.

Answer: Mini-grant funds cannot be used for programming at anytime during the school day.


Question: We would like to use some of the funding for Red Ribbon Week. The students won't be take out of school for any events, however they will be given backpacks, pencils, etc. during the school day. Is this permissible?

Answer: Strategies have to be supported by data, per the RFP.


Question: If an event is already planned that would take students out of school, but it is during the school day is this permissible?

Answer: Mini-grant funds cannot be used for programming at anytime during the school day.


Question: Would cessation products be an acceptable expenditure for the upcoming mini-grant cycle?

Answer: As long as it is supported by the RFP criteria. We cannot advise you on strategies will be funded for the mini-grants.


Question: Will we be able to bill salary time (for paid staff as part of the budget) as of Oct. 3rd when the awards are announced? Or wait until after the MOU is signed?

Answer: That is a decision that your fiscal agent can advise you on. Mini-grant funds will be awarded from ACT Missouri after we have a signed MOU.


Question: Would an incinerator for prescription drugs be considered equipment?

Answer: It is not specified in the Mini-Grant RFP, however per funding requirements, no equipment can be purchased with Mini-Grant funds.


Question: Coalitions have asked if passive alcohol sensors were fundable in the mini-grant. Even though this is equipment, it is not passively used equipment like a computer, it is an active piece required for a certain type of strategy, is this a fundable item in the grants?

Answer: It is not specified in the Mini-Grant RFP, however per funding requirements, no equipment can be purchased with Mini-Grant funds.


Question: I understand the criteria for equipment that cannot be purchased with mini grant funding. Is there a dollar amount that you consider to be equipment. Other grantees set a limit under a certain amount. Is that the case with the mini-grants? If so what is that amount?

Answer: It is not specified in the Mini-Grant RFP, however per funding requirements, no equipment can be purchased with Mini-Grant funds.


Question: I have a coalition wanting to write a mini-grant for smoking cessation programs. Is this something that would be fundable or are cessation programs considered more on the treatment side rather than prevention?

Answer: As long as it is supported by the RFP criteria. We cannot advise you on strategies that will be funded for the mini-grants.
