Choose Your FriYAY

There isn’t one way to host a FriYAY. Schools can select activities that make sense for their students and build them into existing games, events, or Friday-night traditions.

Try activities like Paint the Town, where students turn post-game energy into a colorful school-spirit celebration; Tossed &  Confused, an impairment-goggle corn hole challenge that demonstrates how impairment affects motor control; Foamed Fumbles, which channels the need for speed and competition into a supervised race; or Sockwondo, a hands-on tournament built around friendly competition, sportsmanship, and self-control.

Start with one activity or make FriYAY a recurring part of your school calendar.

Make It a Community Effort

FriYAY works best when students lead the fun and the school community helps make it happen.

SADD chapters can partner with athletics, Student Council, NHS, PTO/PTA groups, coaches, parents, first responders, local businesses, prevention organizations, and other community partners. These partnerships can provide volunteers, equipment, prizes, promotion, expertise, and financial support while connecting students with positive adults throughout their community.

The result is more than an event—it’s a school and community working together to show students that people support their decision to have fun and stay safe.

Make Every FriYAY Count

Schools are encouraged to track participation and gather simple feedback after each activity. Count participants, ask students what they thought, capture photos, and share the prevention message through school and SADD social media.

Over time, these results can help your chapter identify the activities students enjoy most and turn successful FriYAY events into traditions students anticipate throughout the year.
